The Tarkine is a wilderness area covering approximately 450,000 hectares in North West Tasmania. It has been recognised in numerous articles and scientific publications as having outstanding natural, Indigenous and world heritage qualities. It has been included by CNN as worthy of inclusion on a list of one of ten of the planet’s great wilderness areas, placing it in the same league as the Serengeti. The Tarkine has large undisturbed areas of temperate rainforest and wilderness, world-class fossil sites, magnesite karst systems, rare and endangered species, massive carbon stores, stunning coastlines, Indigenous archaeology, and aesthetic characteristics. It provides very clear evidence of the area’s links with Gondwana.

It’s easy to get lost here in the Tarkine on the north west and west coasts of Tasmania. Lost in amazement, contemplation and its spectacular beauty. The Tarkine is a place where getting lost beyond your imagination in the awesomeness of mother nature’s theatre is part of the journey. A place where you will be bewildered in the wilderness.
