A highlight of which will be a guided 90 minute walk in the vicinity of the canyon. This is a medium difficulty walk on formed and established trails.

A visit to globally significant area of Fossil Bluff at Wynyard

Fossil Bluff sits directly under an extinct volcano called Table Cape, famous for its tulips and outstanding views. The rocks at Fossil Bluff provide clear evidence of how climate has changed over millions of years from the time Tasmania was part of the ancient landmass of Gondwana. From there the group will visit and walk in one of the most beautiful National Parks in Tasmania, the Rocky Cape NP with its world class flora and fauna, hiking, geology and Indigenous history. This visit will involve a three-hour easy to medium walk into Anniversary Bay in Rocky Cape NP.

Two days will be spent exploring some of the mysteries of the rainforests of the Tarkine

Its rare and endangered species, its rivers, streams and waterfalls. You will have the opportunity to visit areas rarely visited and will be amazed by the awe-inspiring wilderness on hand. These two days will involve easy walking, sometimes on unmarked trails, for two to three hours.

The House

You will be accommodated for three nights at the gorgeous Black Bluff View Retreat 15 minutes south of the coastal town of Ulverstone. This house has four bedrooms  which are adaptable(double, double plus single, single), a fully functioning office and two bathrooms. It has a world class vista looking directly at Black Bluff to the south, part of the Cradle Mountain range, and the Dial Range to the west. The 40-hectare property abounds in native wildlife including echidnas and wedge-tail eagles. The bird life is truly amazing and you will be serenaded to sleep as the day birds sing their final songs and the nocturnal birds wake up. A very private swimming hole on the Leven River is at the base of the property. The property has an open fire and wood heater and two living areas.

Even though only 15 minutes to Ulverstone which has all amenities, you will feel great solitude and a sense of peacefulness staying at this house.

Accommodation for the night that straddles the two days in the rainforest will be at the Tarkine Wilderness Lodge at Meunna. This is a beautiful off-grid property constructed to the highest possible standards. It overlooks the magnificent rainforests of the Tarkine.

There will be ample opportunity to relax and enjoy the serene nature of this area.

You will have the option of staying in a tent metres from pure Tarkine rainforests for a night so that you can be serenaded to sleep by the soothing sounds of the rainforest.

Your Transport

You will be transported in a comfortable and warm Hyundai Imax eight-seater van.

Pick up

Pick up can be arranged from Devonport Airport or from accommodation in the Devonport/Ulverstone areas.

Individual arrangements will be made between booking and pick up dates, including for those with their own transport.

For those driving their own cars, safe parking is available at the accommodation in North Motton.

Pick up will be between 10–11am on the Sunday at the start of a tour from accommodation venues and from Devonport Airport.

Drop off will be on the Friday between 12–1pm.

Cost

1. 6 day, 5 night fully guided tour and accommodation package – $2250pp, $1500 under 16.
*Discounts available for a group of six.

2. Accommodation Package (minimum 2 nights) at Black Bluff View Retreat in North Motton.
The cost per night is $250 for up to four. $50 per person per night over four up to a maximum of ten people.

You will have the option of selecting one (or more) day tours for up to six people at a cost of $800 per tour. This option will be negotiated with your tour host either before or on arrival. You will be driven and guided by a Rare Earth Tour guide who has a passion for the area and great knowledge of the areas available for the day tours.

If required, a Parks Pass can be issued by Rare Earth Tasmania.

Check in after 4pm. Check out 10am.

3. Team and capacity building retreat:
The venue Black Bluff View Retreat at North Motton can be booked for small groups of up to six to spend time together to build organisational/team capacity. Rare Earth Tasmania can provide options for activities and experiences as well as engage personnel to run professional learning opportunities. The property is comfortable and the environment creative and peaceful. Rare Earth Tours can provide logistical support and will make any of its day tours available. Individual requirements and costs can be negotiated by contacting Rare Earth Tasmania directly.

4. Customisable Tours:
Rare Earth Tasmania can put together an individual group itinerary to suit group interests. These trips are very flexible in terms of places and areas visited, accommodation options and duration. Individual requirements and costs can be negotiated by contacting Rare Earth Tasmania directly.
